Add in a global television package that allows fans from all over the world to tune in, plus live event streaming on www.allisports.com, and the result is an unprecedented audience for motocross racing.

Monster Energy Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto will defend his #1 plate against no less than three former 450 Class Champions in 2012. Besides the man he wrestled the 2011 title from, Red Bull KTM's Ryan Dungey, as well as a hugely-popular Australian star in TwoTwo Motorsports' Chad Reed, Villopoto must also contend with James Stewart, who is returning to outdoor motocross for the first time since his perfect 2008 season as a member of the Joe Gibbs Racing/Toyota/Yamaha team. There will also be challenges from such formidable programs as Team Honda Muscle Milk, the Yoshimura Suzuki factory team, MotoConcepts/Alessi Racing, the new L&Mc Racing Honda team spearheaded by legend Jeremy McGrath, and more.

In the 250 Class, newly-crowned champion, and Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider, Dean Wilson will not only have to defend his title against the best young riders in America, he will also be pursued by the two most recent MX2 World Champions. Frenchman Marvin Musquin and German sensation Ken Roczen have each earned Grand Prix titles on 250cc motorcycles, and will now join forces at Red Bull KTM to challenge Wilson for the most-coveted outdoor title in the sport, a Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Add in the formidable GEICO Honda team, DNA Shred Stix/Star Racing Yamaha, Rockstar Energy Suzuki, JDR KTM, in addition to Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil Honda, and the 2012 season is ripe for exceptional competition.

Additionally, the Women's Motocross Championship will be included at eight rounds. Led by defending champion, Team Honda Muscle Milk's Ashley Fiolek, who claimed her third title in four years as a pro, the world's fastest women riders are set to bring even more excitement to the series. Fiolek can once again expect serious competition from her primary rival, and fellow multi-time champion, Jessica Patterson of the DNA Shred Stix/Star Racing Yamaha team.

Following the traditional opener at Hangtown, series favorites - Freestone, Thunder Valley, High Point, Budds Creek, RedBud, Spring Creek, Washougal, Southwick, Unadilla and Steel City - all return to compose the bulk of the 2012 schedule. While some venues' traditional dates on the calendar have shifted, they remain as part of the integral foundation of American Motocross.

The season finale will feature a new venue in the motocross hotbed of Southern California. Details and additional information will follow.

Hart & Hunnington Announce 2012 Lineup

CARLSBAD, Calif. – Carey Hart, team owner of Hart and Huntington Racing, unveiled the new Supercross team riders and sponsors for the 2012 season during a press conference in San Diego yesterday at Sycuan Casino. The Dodge Motorsports/Sycuan Casino/Hart and Huntington/Bel-Ray Racing Team now includes a brand new sponsorship with Sycuan Casino for the upcoming season and beyond, as well as a continuing partnership with Dodge and Bel-Ray.

Josh Hansen, Kyle Partridge and Josh Hill will join Hart and Huntington Racing veteran Ivan Tedesco on the four-man team for 2012. In addition, Hart announced that he will be donating the bike he used at the Gravity Games in 2000 to complete the first backflip in freestyle motocross history to GameDay Sports Bar & Grill at Sycuan Casino as a token of gratitude for their support.

"I’m really looking forward to next season and couldn’t be happier about the talent behind our new team riders and the amazing support of our sponsors," said Carey Hart. “These guys have so much energy and passion in their riding that I know a Hart and Huntington racer will make a big impact this season, just like we did last year. All of our sponsors are the driving force behind our success; elevating us to the next level and giving us the opportunity to double our team in a time when other programs are cutting back or worse, not coming back out at all.”

“We know that motocross is a sport that resonates with our local community and are excited to partner with the most innovative team in the industry,” said Sheila Howe, General Manager of Sycuan Casino. “Our goal is to host more fun and entertaining events, like Liv Fast Moto Demo, for our guests. Furthermore, we’re personally huge fans of Hart and Huntington and can’t wait to see how the team performs in the upcoming Supercross season.”

Chad Reed Injured

Check out this report from Racer X on Chad Reed's most recent injuries:
Today Racer X learned that Chad Reed injured himself over the weekend at the Genoa Supercross. Reed had gone down in a first-turn crash in the first main event, but managed to come back to finish second, and then win the second and final race to edge Justin Barcia for the overall.
In that first-turn crash, Reed hurt his thumb and foot. He dug through the pain during the races, and then tried to do some testing this week with Japanese engineers from Honda. He then realized the pain was too much. According to a text message from Reed today, he then went to get x-rays and found out he does have broken bones, but he described it as, "Nothing too serious."
Reed says he hopes to be back on the bike to continue testing next week after the swelling goes down. Stay tuned to Racer X, we'll report if anything changes.
